Athera wants you to kill snakes and return with two ruined snake scales. Exit Freeport through the North Gate by the Blacksmith; run north to the hills and kill Shrub Snakes until you obtain the scales. Return to Athera.

Talk to Athera. She needs the following items:
- Ivory — Purchase from Merchant Yesam (first room off the coach in a building of merchants)
- Iron Ore — Purchase from Merchant Shohan (in the Bazaar near the Blacksmith)
- A Beetle Leg Segment — Farm beetles to obtain
Return to Athera with the items.

Athera asks you to hunt down highwaymen who have hijacked caravans. Exit by the Blacksmith (north), follow the road, then head right to a grassy hill with a druid stone. Kill the highwaymen, loot the stolen goods, and return to Athera.

Someone placed a Chichan Eel in waters flowing to Freeport. Kill the eel (CONs yellow 
@7) and loot its Venom Sac. Exit north, run north to the river, follow it until you reach the small house near the Orc Ransacker. Kill, loot Venom Sac, return to Athera.

Quest NPC: Athera
Talk to Athera; she sends you to Guard Sareken at the North Gate by the bank.
Guard Sareken: Needs 147 tunar and 3 Tough Pike Scales. Pike can be found in the river north of Freeport. Go north to the dam, farm Large Pike (CON DB @10) until you have 3 scales.
Return to Sareken. He then wants the belt of an Orc Ransacker wandering in the old house north of Freeport. Kill the Orc Ransacker (CON White @10), loot the belt, and return to Sareken.

Quest NPC: Althera
Deliver a damaged robe of Ilenar Crelwin to Delvin Stitchfinger in Bobble-by-Water (north along the river from Freeport).
Delvin requires fine chocolates from Grocer Fritz Belgor (120–250 tunar). Buy the chocolates, return to Delvin. Delvin gives a chocolate-stained robe; return to Ilenar. He provides poisoned chocolate; give it to Delvin. After he dies, return to Ilenar.

Ilenar needs a few items for research:
- Nightworm Roots — Contact Dagget Klem in Temby (bring 250 tunar). Kill Bloodfin Brood Shark Mother (CONs yellow @15) and loot tooth. Pay Klem, collect roots, return to Ilenar.
- Blood of a Madman — Go south from FP (coach), kill a Madman (CONs yellow @15) in spire area, loot blood, return to Ilenar.

Quest NPC: Athera
The Grimoire: Report to Ilenar Crelwin to retrieve Geldwin's Grimoire in the Temple of Light west of Freeport.
Crim Arikson: Forger in Bastable. Travel to him to obtain a forged letter. Requires 525 tunar and a document with Sir Hanst's seal. Locate Page Joseph Robert, kill and loot the missive, return to Crim with tunar, receive forged letter.
Amulet of Deception: Obtain from Swiftwind Galeehart's skeleton on Hangman's Hill east of Bobble-by-Water. Kill skeletons, loot amulet, return to Ilenar with amulet and forged letter.
The Library: Travel to Temple of Light, locate librarian Leandro Novan, present forged letter. Follow Leandro to forbidden texts, speak to Praetor Gunner and complete quests to obtain Geldwin's Grimoire.
Return to Ilenar, then to Athera.
Reward: 2,814,929 XP

- Avoidance — Greatly reduces enemy desire to attack, comes with a magic dagger
- Minor Wound — Backstab-like attack from any angle, comes with a magic rapier
