1️⃣ Quest Start
Log the quest with the Priest of Bertoxxulous, located in an alcove at the bottom of the Rogue/SK Guild in Freeport (next to Necorik the Ghost).
2️⃣ Urglauh the Foul
You are sent to see Urglauh the Foul in Trail's End (N). He is located in a tunnel under the guard tower (where Inspector Flint stands for the HP Storyteller Quest) near the highway bandits. Speak with Urglauh and tell him you were sent to be his disciple.
3️⃣ Corrupt the Villagers
Urglauh sends you to corrupt villagers in Sunnyvale (Jared's Blight (N)).
Outside the village are roaming Villagers (con lb@60 but high HP). Kill villagers until a Corrupted Soul spawns. TALK to the soul — it despawns and gives you a Soul Energy.
Collect 5 Soul Energies, then return to Urglauh.
4️⃣ Miasma Malignus
Return to the Priest of Bertoxxulous, who sends you to Miasma Malignus in Green Rift (W) (tent across from Spiritmaster Draxul).
Speaking with her gives -2000 faction with Enraged of Karana.
She asks you to gain the trust of pilgrims and turn them from their god. Find Pilgrim Disciples and Pilgrim Apostles in Green Rift (S) at two camps along the edge of the bowl-shaped valley with the lake.
Speak with them and choose dialogue carefully. If you fail, they respawn as Enraged Pilgrims and attack you (others will not aggro).
You must return with 5 walking sticks, freely given (not broken).
5️⃣ Return to Priest
Return to Miasma with the walking sticks, then return to the Priest of Bertoxxulous.
You must now choose between:
- learning more about Soultap (power steal, similar to life tap), or
- causing pain and suffering to those around you (AoE strike).
Like the Paladin Exemplar quest, you may redo the quest later but cannot hold both abilities at the same time.
🩸 SOULTAP PATH (Soul Drain)
You receive 10.5 million XP and are sent back to Miasma Malignus.
She asks you to defile graves of the pure saints of Norrath. Con and talk to the Blasphemous Box beside her before leaving.
Graves are located in Collingridge Cemetery (N) beside the river, east of the Elder's Tomb. Interact with grave headstones to spawn Mourners (attacking headstones spawns two at a time).
Loot Crystallized Sorrow Gems until you have a stack of 25.
- Pure crystallized sorrow = 50 faction
- Normal crystallized sorrow = 10 faction
Return to Miasma and speak with the Blasphemous Box to turn them in. Repeat until reaching 2000 faction with The Profane of Bertoxxulous.
Speak with Miasma, then return to the Priest for your reward.
Reward — Soultap
A 1cm ability opens under Class:
Soultap — "This dark power permits the Shadowknight to drink power from the soul of their enemy."
Cast on a mob, restores about 8k mana, recast 15 minutes.
You may redo steps 1–7 later to choose AoE Strike instead.
🔥 AoE STRIKE PATH
You receive 10.5 million XP and are sent to Urglauh the Foul in Trail's End (N).
He sends you back to Sunnyvale (Jared's Blight (N)) to slay Healers and Paladins of Rodcet Nife at a campfire north of Sunnyvale (bottom of the mountain).
Loot Screaming Souls (skulls) until you have a stack of 25.
Return to Urglauh and feed them to the zombie for 10 faction with the Corrupted of Bertoxxulous. Repeat until reaching 2000 faction with The Corrupted of Bertoxxulous.
After max faction, return to the Priest of Bertoxxulous and demand your reward.
Reward — Soul Cleave
A 1cm ability opens under General:
Soul Cleave — "This spell alters your strike abilities to defile the souls of all enemies around the Shadowknight."
AoE strike, 45 sec recast. Life tap applies only to the primary target; AoE portion deals damage only.
You may redo steps 1–7 later to choose Soultap instead.
