Were Quests > WereHunter

Quest Name: Were-Hunter Quest

Level: All

Quest NPC: Djivan Mertshak

Location: Oasis

PART 1 - Mandatory

Speak with Djivan Mertshak in Oasis. He will give you a silver needle and ask you to search for a suspicious character with a pet rat in Hodstock.

In a small farming village in Hodstock (NW) you will find Slick Svenson and his pet rat, Bucktooth. When you poke Slick with the needle he and his pet turn into lycanthropes!

Their levels will be determined by the level of the person doing the quest. Both will con red and are not soloable. Be prepared for a fight. The spawn time on the mob is about 10 minutes.

Loot the NTL item and return to Djivan. He will then ask you to find a woman named Lynda Elmquist in Jethro's Pike.

Jethro's Pike is located in Jethro's Cast (S). There you will find Lynda standing in a small building. When you speak with her, she too turns into a lycanthrope! She, like Slick, CONs red cons red. Her respawn is about 5-15 minutes. Defeat the foul abomination and return to Djivan.

After you have spoken with Djivan he will ask you to speak with Marona Jofranka in Freeport.

Marona is located north of the coach near the dueling arena. She tells you to go speak with Dravin Slaerin in the Merchant House east of her. He is in the same building as Kradish Du'Klot from the Dead Hills quest.

Dravin gives you a pouch and tells you to go speak with Necrologist Ipstock in Hazinak.

Ipstock can be found standing by the river in Hazinak (C). When you speak with him, he too turns into a lycanthrope! He CONs red cons red and has a pet named "swarming minion." He, unlike the previous lycanthropes, does not drop a NTL. Assure that the person with the quest logged is in the kill-group when he is defeated in order to be "flagged." If accomplished, their quest-log should be updated. Return to Dravin.

Dravin then sends you back to Marona.

Marona warns you of a plot being conceived by an infamous vampire to summon undead beasts for what can only be assumed to be evil purposes. She tells you to return to the Oasis and alert Djivan.

In the Oasis, Dijvan gives you 2,000,000 XP. If you speak with him again, he asks if you want to join the Were Hunters.

Note: to complete this quest and be offered the werehunters brand you need a minimum of +500 faction with the Gypsies of Tunaria (not the Tunarian Gypsies). To get faction, head to Siloths and farm. The easier mobs at the top give +1 faction per kill, as get lower down, mobs give +5, while at the very bottom - each kill will give you +10 faction.

If you select "yes," he will put a "brand" on you preventing you from ever becoming infected by a lycanthropy. You will also receive a level 30 ring and now have access to the general were hunter CMS.

Congratulations, you are now an official Were Hunter!

Rewards: Melee: Gypsy Honour Ring lvl30 str15 int15 Tank: Gypsy Honor Ring lvl30 str15 int15 Healer: Gypsy Honor Ring lvl30 str15 int15 Caster: Gypsy Honor Ring lvl30 str15 int15

Keep this ring. Eventually, as you progress your quest to becoming a Were Hunter, you'll be required to show the ring to have it upgraded. Tank one gets upgraded like this: *Gypsy Honor Insignia Lvl55 str25 int25 necklace

PART 2 - Optional By gokukicks, Yaeadane, edited by Singz (from Questmasters)

  1. Get your Tunaria Gypsies faction to 500+ and speak again with Djivan Mertshak in Oasis.
  2. Djivan sends you to intercept shipment on Siloth docks (located south of the cave, next to the river). On the docks, kill the blackscourge smugglers/siloth knights until you can loot a folded parchment and siloth coin purse.
  3. Now go to the magically locked chest they were standing next to and open it. It basically says the folded parchment had some words you recite and it opens the box. Return to Djivan in Oasis.
  4. Tell Djivan what the contents of the chest were and show him the coinpurse. He will then tell you to take the coinpurse to Marona Jofranka in Freeport.
  5. Jofranka sends you to the Klick'Anon Necro guild to see Necrologist Quenka [located near where the books are for the Highbourne Storyteller quest]. Quenka will take the coin purse from you and release a free spirit. Talk to the spirit and he tells you of a vampire called Tserrina. Return to Oasis to talk to Djivan. Note: the spirit is not around for long, talk fast; if it despawns before you've finished it won't hurt the quest.
  6. Djivan will now send you to kill Tserrina who resides NW of the salt mine on a hill with a castle on it. You'll see battlebones fighting siloths (Salt Mines NW). Her coffin is on the 3rd floor. You're to kill her and return to Djivan. Ensure all questers are in the kill group as this is a kg flag. Note: in order to open her coffin, you need an uncommon/rare drop called an "incantation" to open it; kill siloths on the various floors or kill a named arch-necro to get one. Tserrina has some decent level-appropriate drops: Mistmoore Betrothal Gown (robe HP: 9300 DUR:65 Level:45) and Harnessed Soul Gem (HP: 9100 DUR:50 Level:40 INT:30 Power:125). Other drops include Staff, Mistmoore Betrothal Ring.
  7. Djivan will reward you with 8.3million XP (un-booned) and Charm of Gemile (neck lvl 40 str15 wis30 healer item). Rewards will vary by class.

Quest Name: Were-Hunter Ability Quest Level: 46+ Class: All Quest NPC: Djivan Mertshak Location: Oasis

Note: to log this quest you need a minimum of +500 faction with the Gypsies of Tunaria (not the Tunarian Gypsies). To get faction, head to Siloths and farm. The easier mobs at the top give +1 faction per kill, as get lower down, mobs give +5, while at the very bottom - each kill will give you +10 faction.

Talk to Djivan Mertshak in Oasis. Djivan tells you a long story about Mayong Mistmoore, a vampire who seeks control of the siloths. He asks for your help in defeating Mistmoore. Djivan tells you to see Enrique Revnold by the crossroads at Forkwatch.

Enrique talks about his ancestor, Vedel Revnold, a famous bard. Vedel crafted a song to rouse Mistmoore from his coffin, but Vedel was defeated and became the Maestro of Rancor. Enrique will give you a tome of Vedel's songs but in exchange wants a Writ of the Wild from the Unkempt Druids. Farm rangers and druids in the Unkempt Village (where Levandius is) [Unkempt North SW] to find your Writ of the Wild. Usually drops in about 15 minutes of farming.

Return to Enrique with the Writ of the Wild and receive Vedel's songs in exchange. He tells you the Maestro can only be summoned by playing the songs on an instrument crafted by a vampire.

You are to look for the instrument in the vampire's lair. Head to Saltmines (SW) - not the castle, the mines - find your way down the ramps several levels. Find Colen Ilbeth and enter the tunnel where he stands, go down some more ramps. Eventually, you find yourself entering a small room with 3 drachnids, clear them. Beyond that is a circular room with drachnids and a red spider graphic on the floor. Go to the second room on your right, clear the room, keep mobs down.

Approach the organ and get a popup, and Maestro of Rancor spawns in the middle of the carpet (CONs yellow cons yel@lvl50). Kill the Maestro and loot a song page. Note: if more than one questor needs to kill the Maestro, you will have to wait on the respawn time, which can be more than 30 min (i.e., this is not a group flag).

Now it's time to find Mayong Mistmoore. Head back out to the central room, and again head to the second tunnel on your right. You'll come across the room with the 'drachnid body snatcher'; clear this room. Pass through this room and down a tunnel, turn right at the brick-lined hallway, and STAY right. Follow the hall to the end, there will be a small room with two glyph familiars and a drachnid, clear the room and take the ramp down. In the large cavern down below you can clear mobs. You will be able to con 'stone coffin'; there are several down there. Con around and see if you con the coffin of Mayong Mistmoore. He is a rare spawn and you won't catch him here very often. If he is 'up', then assemble your team to take him down. Note: you MUST be in the KS (kill group) group to advance your quest. Be in a group with 3 other DD's and have everyone else ungroup (this mob is easily one groupable though). DON'T DIE - if you die you have to restart the quest. 2nd Note: If more than one questor is at this exact spot in the quest (i.e., kill Mayong), as long as all questors are in the kill group, all will have their quest advanced.

Mistmoore has an AoE lifetap, so only the tank should face him head on; everyone else should hide from the AoE and pop out quickly to cast/melee etc. If he lifetaps you, it heals him and keeps the fight going longer. Kill Mayong Mistmoore, get the XP for the kill, and your quest log will advance.

Return to Djivan Mertshak in Oasis to get 1.4 million XP and a reward.

Rewards: Melee: Troka's Blessing spell scroll + Talisman of Troka, necklace, NTL, Lvl50, Dex30, Int15 Tank: Blessing of Valentina spell scroll + Talisman of Valentina, necklace, NTL, Lvl50 str30 int15 Caster: Blessing of Yazmina spell scroll + Talisman of Yazmina, necklace, NTL, Lvl50 str15 int30 Healer: Blessing of Luludja spell scroll + Talisman of Luludja, necklace, NTL, Lvl50 str15 wis30

Quest Name: WereHunter Trials

Level: 50+

Class: All

NPC: Djivan Mertshak

Location: Oasis

Conflict between the Lycans and WereHunters grows Tense! Those who have accepted the werehunter brand may find new tasks in Oasis to undertake. Check out the other were hunter quest here!

Quest Part I - Siloths

See Djivan Mertshak in Oasis. When entering the village from the coach, his tent is on the far right with two assistants (south, s/w of coach).

Note: Djivan Mertshak will not speak with you unless you have a minimum of +500 faction with the Gypsies of Tunaria...see note below on how to improve your faction.

"Gypsies have recently learned that Lord Phinnius enlisted additional forces to keep watch over his enslaved workers. Perhaps Lord Phinnius only wishes for his wealth to grow but we cannot allow this atrocity to continue. Head to the saltmines and hinder the siloths in any way possible. It will provide a means to measure your devotion."

Translation: You need a minimum of +1851 faction with the Gypsies of Tunaria (not the Tunarian Gypsies). To get faction, head to siloths and farm. The easier mobs at the top give +1 faction per kill, as get lower down, mobs give +5, while at the very bottom - each kill will give you +10 faction. You can farm the faction in advance of logging this quest.

When you are ready, speak with his assistant Jhevin, who is standing next to him. If you make the minimum faction requirement he will give you an accomplishment token and tell you to speak with Djivan Mertshak again.

Do not reply to the NPC with rude comments or you are penalized by removal of faction.

Quest Part II - Hunt + Gather for Faction

Once you have obtained max faction, see Djivan Mertshak again in Oasis. Now begins the farming portion of this quest.

"Well done, you proved your devotion. The first step is to take this insignia as a token of dedication (Gypsy Honor Insignia Lvl 55, NTL, necklace, +25 str/dex)."

Note: you must be Lvl 55 for Djivan to give you the hunt and gather part of the quest.

He asks you to obtain stacks and sets (parts of werebeasts), when you turn in these stacks/sets your faction will increase (very slowly). You need to increase it to +2000.

A stack is 4 of the very same item from one were (like 4 lionwere tails). A set is 5 of the same type of item (like a tail from a lion, wolf, bear, rat and gator). Best to turn in items as sets instead of stacks since you will get more faction that way. Here are places to hunt for weres:

  • Lions: Deathfist Horde East and Southeast, leonines spawn at night and last 1 hour. The EQOA sun sets at :55 and rises at :25. When the sun sets in this zone between the castle and the mountains, the 3 subzones will despawn all mobs and respawn leonines at night. You can farm them for the pristine items you will need as well as stacks you need for your faction quest. Keep killing the other wildlife as well and leonines will respawn at a good rate. Tip: Also, if you can get a druid or wizzy to port you to SBC and/or SBM for the other 30 min (when the leonines are down), the time flies by and the parts really add up. Note: During the day in Deathfist Horde, run to Wktann's 4th and grab any rats and wolfs that you can there; they will only provide tails but rat is the hardest to find so get what you can.
  • Gator: Lake Noreguard, kill ancient gharails in lake, one gator will spawn per 4-5 kills, they drop pristine items needed also.
  • Rat, Lion, Gator: head to south barren coast (especially after a server reset), there are 4-5 areas that spawn weres consistently when you farm the mobs there (I find wisps best placeholders). Rats with items needed other than tails can also be farmed in Geo Citadel.
  • Stonebrunt: bear and wolf, usually can grab a full set of tails/items from them, and if you run in after farming SBC, the trip to cave entry will likely find you 1-3 rats and 5-6 bears.
  • SBC for rats, gators, and lions: area around the southernmost ratman camp. Narrow area, easy to track spawns, large enough to constantly be killing. Note: zone crashes may spawn additional weres.
  • Saliseareen for bears and wolfs: About 75% of the weres that spawn there are green, rest are LB. Easier to farm there lately since SBM has been packed.
  • Neonii comments: best to farm sets on Thursdays after server reset. Using klic bow to kill wisps helps spawn more weres. Gators in Lake N. take more time but spawn better than in SBC.

Inventory Note: Have 25 inventory spaces available. It's advised to make a bank character in Oasis to transfer unused items while waiting to grab more.

Reward: The reward is a ring.

  • Melee: Gypsy Were-Hunter Ring 13000/13000 Dur: 50 Dex: 45 CR: 5 Int: 20 FR: 5

BEFORE PROCEEDING TO THE TRIALS, YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ELDER TCHEKOF QUEST. Once complete, return to this quest and complete Part 3 - the Trials.

Quest Part III - The Trials

  1. Talk to Delegate Tenrathe to start the WereHunter Trials. He is located in the SE part of Oasis near the fence close to the river. Important: Have your WereHunter ring along. He will send you to see Nivaan D'Tarin.
  2. Nivaan D'Tarin is in Bogman (NE), on floating raft in the water. After some quest dialogue, Nivaan tells you to remember "But the warm air carries itself into the night." Nivaan will then port you to Wymondomen (N).

1st Trial - Trial of Sight and Memory

  1. Once in Wymondhmen (N), speak to Trainer Iruko. He will go through some quest dialogue. Speak with him again to get the "Concentration Totem" and your TEN MINUTES will start. Trainer Iruko will port himself to a nearby hill. Go speak with him on this hill to be placed where HE wants you.

Once you are where he wants you, THREE different Were-Beasts will spawn in a line. Facing the line: left is MOB #1, right is MOB #3.

Note: Take a couple of minutes to identify which Were is where. Write them down quickly.

There will be three sets of three questions for the three sets of answers listed below.

  • Set One Answers: 3-3-3
  • Set Two Answers: 3-2-1
  • Set Three Answers: 2-1-2

Warning: Incorrect answers or exceeding 10 minutes loses 75 faction with the WereHunters of Tunaria. Djivan Mertshak in Oasis now ONLY accepts sets (lion, wolf, rat, bear, gator). Tails-only sets are not accepted.

Set of hides/pelts = +6 Set of meats = +12 Set of claws = +16 Set of teeth = +18

Return to Wymondhem (N) to redo question portion if needed.

Intermission

  1. Master Iruko tells you to seek out Irlynn Poe near a bridge in Jared's Blight zone. Poe is located under the bridge on the east side of the river near Darvar Manor coach. Poe will upgrade your WH ring: Before: Arcane WH Band, After: Radiant Arcane Band (+5 FR/CR, +5 LR/AR).

2nd Trial - Trial of Scent and Tracking

  1. Go to Cyclops's Fortress (C) on a hill with a "T"-stone to find Master Landaar. He will guide you on scent tracking and mark a captured/released were-beast. Gather allies to assist; the captured were-beast is stronger than prior mobs. A 15-minute clock starts when he instructs you to begin.

Popups:

  • Popup #1: West of Master Landaar, North side of second rock.
  • Popup #2: South/Southwest from #1, middle of triangle formed by 3 trees.
  • Popup #3: East/Southeast from #2, next to a big rock near northernmost Cyclops tent.
  • Popup #4: North from there, North crest of hill near T-stone and Master Landaar.

Warning: Do NOT go directly to the were-beast; approach widely.

The were-beast spawns as "A Vicious xxxWere" and has a lot of HP. Kill it and loot drops. If failed, speak to Master Landaar to redo the 1st Trial (no faction lost unless answering wrong).

  1. After killing the were-beast, speak with Assistant Urtoe (near kill location). He congratulates you on completing 2nd Trial and welcomes you to the WereHunter Council. Visit Delegate Rhinni in Oasis.

  2. Delegate Rhinni upgrades your ring and gives you your archetypical ability.
